| We had the pleasure of being invited aboard the 'Timar' a 1980 Westerly Discus 33 the other day.
Still fitted with the original Treadmaster Decking the Timar has had a somewhat colourful past having been sunk twice, the first of which in Swansea Harbour on the day of the new harbours opening!.
Now owned by the Freeborn brothers from Mylor, Richard and Jason acquired the vessel in 1992 and sail her regularly.
Jason (who owns and runs a local Soda and Dry Ice blasting company) explained the only maintenance the decking has had is a regular gentle power-washing with detergent.
Pictured below are just a couple of pictures of the Timar showing original 28 year old deck covering.
The full story of the Timar and more pictures of her will be available to download from our website shortly.
Thank you Jason for your hospitality.

| Could you use the Dry Ice or Soda blasting to remove old decking. Would it harm the gelcoat on a fiberglass deck? |

| I have looked into both Dry Ice and Soda blasting, and both appear to be methods of cleaning surfaces; so based on this I would not see that either method could be used to remove Treadmaster. If, however there is anyone else who can tell me otherwise I would be delighted to hear.
Regards
